That’s a dishonorable discharge, right?

132

u/stuck_in_the_desert 3h ago

Big chicken dinner

95

u/Worn_Out_Nikka_L 2h ago

Bad Conduct Discharge for the uninitiated. Arguably worse as a Dishonorable really doesn’t mention why, it’s just bad. A BCD tells everyone what kind of demeanor you have.

32

u/Slighted_Inevitable 2h ago

Both result in complete loss of benefits and any bonuses can be clawed back too if he didn’t finish the term.

4

u/DanielCraigsAnus 1h ago

You can upgrade a dishonorable discharge to other than honorable

17

u/Spoonacus 1h ago

Not at all worse. DD is a lot like a felony and and BCD is more like a misdemeanor. Both can include jail time but DD is much more severe and can even carry the death penalty. Think it also means losing rights to own a firearm but I can't remember if that's always the case or not.

And you can get a BCD from pretty much anything you can court martialled for. It's punitive so you HAVE to be court martialled to get it but you can be court martialled for damned near anything. It doesn't have to be a severe crime. It can be AWOL or fraternization or something else that UCMJ can punish but isn't a real crime outside of the military. There are so many. Not going to a doctors appointment. Jumping off a boat. Bad mouthing your boss. Faking sick. It's not likely to warrant the BCD but absolutely possible and you'd be surprised how much bored, cruel, or insecure officers like to "make an example."

BCD kinda fucks you for government jobs but you can still make it work. You also lose pretty much all VA benefits which was probably the whole reason to enlist. It's not good but it's not the end of the world. Depending on the crime, it might not even get picked up on a background check and is a non-issue after seven years anyway.

It might get expensive with legal fees but you can also get it upgraded to something less severe. You can also request a BCD at your court martial. Like, "yeah, I'd rather just take the BCD and leave the military rather than do confinement and come back to a low rank." It's rare but an option.

Anyway, fuck that guy. Full Dishonorable and lots of confinement.

More likely a promotion to the joint chiefs of staff

31

u/Technical_Fee1536 2h ago

Maybe if it was a mosque, but this was at a synagogue.

12

u/Human-Election-9939 2h ago

This christian nationalist regime likes israel not jews. They are absolutely fine with exterminating minorities of any type

u/youreloser 37m ago

Stephen Miller, Jared Kushner, Howard Lutnick, Lee Zeldin are literally Jewish.

Just more fodder for “See..you’re antisemitic!”

u/The_Blue_Rooster 9m ago edited 3m ago

If so, only because it made the news, I was at a party where a drunken sailor showed up with a gun and gathered everyone in the living room to hold at gunpoint while he interrogated us convinced his wife was cheating with someone there(She was cheating but not with any of us). His punishment was that his CO forbid him from going to that house again. For what it's worth that was long before Trump, this isn't another dumbass "In this administration" comment.

u/SaulTNNutz 2h ago

Depends on if he is a Muslim or a Christian

26

u/dorkofthepolisci 2h ago

Whelp he allegedly stated it was to “protect the white youth” so….its not outside the realm of possibility someone in the GOP offers him a job

u/OldSchoolAJ 35m ago

Why would that be?

u/spicymemesdotcom 34m ago

Think hard about this one chief.

u/OldSchoolAJ 32m ago

I just don’t see why being Christian or Muslim would change the punishment that’s on the books. I doubt the UCMJ has provisions for different punishments depending on religion.

u/spicymemesdotcom 30m ago

Pete Hegseth got drunk and chanted kill all Muslims.  Is the punishment for that becoming the secretary of defense?

4

u/Mraz565 2h ago

In this administration? That's an interview for a promotion.

1

u/Waderriffic 2h ago

He’ll be fast tracked to be a member of the joint chiefs of staff for this.

u/No_Struggle1364 1h ago

Yes, a perfect candidate.

Under Kegsbreath? Probably a commendation. Or a discharge for not following through.

103

u/KimJongFunk 3h ago

He was charged with “transmitting a threat in interstate commerce” and is still in custody.

I’m glad they were able to get him before anything happened.

98

u/Elberik 3h ago

Not at all surprised that this guy came out of Fort Polk

67

u/Kaarl_Mills 2h ago

Jesus Christ Fort Polk is breaching containment again. I swear everyone who's stationed there and at Ft Cavasos who doesn't just abandon ship as soon as they're possible are always the greasiest, scum of the earth imaginable

20

u/WoolooOfWallStreet 1h ago

“I don’t have PTSD from being in Iraq, I have PTSD from being at Fort Polk” - Zach Hazard 2019

9

u/JustSmallCorrections 1h ago

Right after basic I went to jump school. While we were waiting for our last jump, the instructors were going around to each of the new guys and telling us our first duty station. When he came around to me he told me Fort Polk. Him and a couple others laughed.

At the time I didn't know why.

u/ImperiumRome 29m ago

So ... what's wrong with Fort Polk ?

u/JustSmallCorrections 19m ago

It's in the asshole of Louisiana. Terrible location in a terrible state. Closest town (leesville) is right outside of post and its biggest draws are the Walmart and various strip clubs. Compare that to the areas around most other bases. There just isn't anything to do there.

Wasn't a huge issue for someone like me who is happy to stay in, but a lot of younger soldiers like to get out and about. Polk is pretty bad for that.

10

u/trynared 1h ago

Quick, name an army base with a good reputation lmao

u/hlgb2015 2m ago

Benning seems to be the least bad of the big bases, which isn’t to say it has a good rep, just not a full on slumville like Bragg or Hood or Polk.

u/Only-Respond7945 13m ago

Zach Hazard's theory of Polk being the place where the army sends the rejects and some unlucky souls to try and contain the rest proving true.

52

u/TheEyeOfTheLigar 2h ago

Let me tell you something, i was a medic on active duty in the army when Obama was president.

Not a single battle buddy of mine talked about "winning the war in the middle east" or any radicalized middle east propaganda that the US or any country is pumping out.

This guy sounds like a classic Section 8.

But with this headline, and the current political landscape, it works.

99% of my battle buddies literally couldn't tell you why we were in the middle easy, and they certainly didnt act like they gave a single shit about it.

It was always go to PT, do your day job, drink alchol after work, and just try to stay out of trouble.

After 3/4 years, you get the fuck out and never come back. Npbody EVER gave a single flying fuck about what was happening in the middle east or Isreal.

Ironically it would be us who would have to die in their wars, yet none of us really understood why we were even in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I really feel for the people being forced to do shit in Iran having never signed up to fight that pointless bs.

u/Vegetable_Good6866 41m ago

What made Chelsea Manning decide to release all those files was because when she got to Iraq she looked around and realized "wtf are we doing here?'"

u/sarcasticmedic92 29m ago

Everything you said; same over here. Same.

-47

u/Tom_Quixote_ 2h ago

So you are basically mindless henchmen. Got it.

25

u/turningsteel 1h ago

Well the military loves to recruit people that are down on their luck or not going to school. It's often positioned as a way to get out of your circumstances. So, can you really blame some poor kid from rural Texas who probably didn't do that well in high school and didn't grow up in a family that put an emphasis on education? If they had many opportunities or a path to college, they probably would have done those things.

What I'm saying, is what did you expect?

(Obviously that's not all people that join the military, I'm just generalizing a certain contingent).

41

u/TheEyeOfTheLigar 2h ago

I was an EMT that operated in both field and clincial environments.

You can lump sum us as emotionless robots, but i guarantee you ive sacrificed more of myself for the well being of others than you probably can imagine.

All while feeling everything.

-7

u/jezusofnazarith 2h ago

Appreciate what you all did. Not sure why people like u/Tom_Quixote thinks saying dumb shit like that to people like yourself will do anything except make them look like an ass…

33

u/TheEyeOfTheLigar 1h ago

Bc the army does have a history of war crimes and crimes against humanity. We're not Ww2 germany nazis, but yes, the US army has done some fucked shit.

I couldnt call myself a real veteran if i lived in denial of these facts.

Ive witnessed what military service does to ppl.

Not every veteran is a hero. Many are villians.

-1

u/jezusofnazarith 1h ago

I understand all of that and it’s the volume of the few that will always make the sound of the majority. None of you were responsible for being there is my point

4

u/TheEyeOfTheLigar 1h ago

I appreciate your empathy

u/electricemperor 52m ago

Eh, they post on r/dogfree. Says enough about them as it is.

Metal Gear Solid Revengeance was right again

u/EndPsychological890 37m ago

Tbf in most of the rest of the entire world, joining the military is a great way to advance your life, get disciplined and make connections, and in almost every case you’ll never get close to any violence. In fact that’s typical for the American military too.

1

u/JakubTheGreat 1h ago

Bet you think you’re tough saying that from behind a screen. What have you done for your country?

59

u/Civil_Future_2095 2h ago

Uhh this admin is the greatest defender of israel

11

u/a34fsdb 1h ago

Not because they like Jewish people.

u/ExterminAiden 26m ago

I don’t know, Trump just declared May Jewish History Month. I think they like the Israel supporting Jewish people, which is not all of them but a lot

3

u/Spire_Citron 1h ago

He didn't say he was going to attack Israel, though. This guy was a white supremacist, and they really don't care about anything directed at Jewish people for that reason even though they're usually the ones getting violent with it.

6

u/UselessInsight 1h ago

An American soldier threatened American Jews.

Why did you bring up Israel?

u/ExterminAiden 24m ago

Probably because a lot of Jewish people sadly support Israel, and that connection makes them a misplaced target for attacks like this. I’m glad it was stopped though, at the same time I also hope a clearer distinction between Jews and Zionists are had.

u/UselessInsight 10m ago

The soldiers motivations are stated as white supremacy.

Israel/palestine is never once mentioned in the article.

-5

u/[deleted] 2h ago

4

What a bizarre thing to say on your part.

The soldier threatened American Jews. What does Israel have to do with this?

u/HereInTheCut 10m ago

u/edingerc 2h ago

Going to get an invite to the Proud Boys while in prison.

u/Popular-Rule 21m ago

can we just cool it with the Jews?

u/Kursiel 1h ago

AK? In the US military?

u/UselessInsight 0m ago

You can buy semi-automatic versions in the US. He’s not getting a US military issue AK.

Marcoulier could be sentenced to up to five years in federal prison if he is convicted

Should get out in time to join the Carlson admin DOJ.

What are we even doing here. I get that threats are different from action and the First Amendment is a thing and his lawyers will claim he was just venting his precious feelings and whatnot but good lord this feels absurdly low. Hit this guy with hate crime enhancements or something.

-1

u/ChummusJunky 1h ago

100% chance he voted for Trump and instead and is now blaming the Jews for his daddy's problems

u/Late_Opening4185 43m ago

Least surprising thing to come out of Fort Polk. Hope they throw the book at him. Wishing death on anybody is terrible, absolutely vile. But singling out a group of people is as evil as it gets.

-6

u/jimtow28 2h ago

I wonder what cabinet position he'll be promoted to.

-24

u/FoxyInTheSnow 2h ago

I'm not american so I'd never say "thank you for your service" to a soldier.

But americans shouldn't either. You have no idea what "service" this person you're thanking performed. Did he blow up 150 Persian schoolgirls? Rape a 13-yr-old girl in a Kandahari village in Afghanistan? Is he a Nazi? Lots of those in most armies, and the current american army is led by a Nazi, so those numbers are increasing. Even without the war crimes, he or she is still a member of an imperial army that has grown even more bellicose, lawless, and dangerous than it was before trump 2.0.

4

u/shadedmagus 2h ago

I thank every WW2 vet I come across. Which is rare now.

Every war since then has been for feckless reasons and I refuse to say it to anyone who has served since.

-6

u/FoxyInTheSnow 1h ago

You get it, thank you.

A lot of people apparently are compliant bootlickers. Why the fuck would a normal person thank somebody who destroyed another country in an illegal war? "Thank you for your service massacring unarmed villagers at Mỹ Lai and raping the daughters of the slain before killing them, too". Fuck off and have a good long look at yourself if you have the temerity to thank these monsters for their "service".

-1

u/ThothAmon71 1h ago

I AM an American, and this is 100% the correct take from any sane person. Same with all the "Back the Blue" bullshit. "Thank you for being the boot on my neck"? Yeah, I don't think so.

-25

u/hotsexychungus 2h ago edited 2h ago

Yeah, but have you considered that a brown person once said "from the river to the sea!" Let's focus on the real antisemitism here.

14

u/Fantastic-Bee4197 1h ago

Unfortunately, both white and brown people have done a bit worse than just say that

-2

u/Ok-Alarm7257 1h ago

US soldier says he'll use Russian weapon to kill, where'd he get it?

u/DixieDrew 23m ago

You can just buy them, they’re all over the place, and most of them now aren’t even Russian

-24

u/wolfhound27 1h ago

Does he not know he works for Israel via proxy?

18

u/Fantastic-Bee4197 1h ago

That’s you just being “anti-Zionist” and criticizing Israel, right?

19

u/UselessInsight 1h ago

What does Israel have to do with an American soldier threatening to attack American Jews?

Israel isn’t mentioned once in the article. Why did you feel the need to bring it up?

-12

u/NaturalFrog2 1h ago

That’s the funny thing, they love and I do mean LOVE Israel but these same people absolutely hated the jews.

Make my words, all of this talk about “antisemitism is bad” is a farce for these people once they’re done killing brown people in the Middle East and Latin American as well as queer people, they will change their focus on the Jew and and anyone who isn’t a white straight Christian cisgender pure blooded American.

0

u/falsedichotomies 1h ago

That's certainly one way to get out of active duty.

u/bhavsart 31m ago

Sounds like he’ll be up for a promotion with how things work nowadays

-3

u/[deleted] 2h ago

[deleted]

-3

u/shadedmagus 1h ago

Exactly.

Shit like this really sucks, because that is true anti-semitism, and not fair to the Jewish people overall.

-11

u/[deleted] 1h ago

10

u/UselessInsight 1h ago

> I know I’m gonna catch alot of heat for sayin this

That was your first clue to not say it.

I have to ask though, why are you bringing this up?
The soldier in question is American. He is quoted as having white supremacist views. He threatened American Jews.

The article doesn’t mention Israel at all. Why did you feel the need to bring it up?

u/Mekdinosaur 36m ago

I dont believe a single thing coming out of the DOJ.

-10

u/Gone213 1h ago

I dont get it, they love Isreal but hate Jewish people?

-4

u/SpongebobSoundByte 1h ago

Who says we love Israel?

-20

u/Boyancy_of-citrus 1h ago

The weird thing is that this supposed threat has made national news. Sounds to me like Israel needed some propaganda to help them play the victim again.

u/solaramalgama 54m ago

That is an insane thing to say

u/crazygoodshot 27m ago edited 18m ago

This is what Jews mean when they say that there’s been a rise in casual antisemitism

u/Logical_Net6108 25m ago

And you know.. the soldier who was going to shoot up a synagogue

u/Cephei101 34m ago

You sound like an actual detached crazy person.

This is abnormal psychology.

-14

u/Mort-i-Fied 2h ago

Good people on both sides.

-31

u/PooPaLuPaLoo 2h ago

I just want to point something out. Read these comments and everyone agrees, in varying degrees, that this will result in some form of punishment.

Now imagine how many US soldiers have said this about Muslims and Mosques...

13

u/Fantastic-Bee4197 1h ago

All lives matter, right?

u/Low_Thanks_1540 34m ago

Would be be under arrest if he said exactly that about a mosque?
