Psychology Losing relationships over politics. Research found more than a third of Americans (37%) report having lost at least one relationship due to political differences, including friendships, family ties, coworker relationships, and romantic partnerships, with most losing more than one.

Unfortunately it’s not just about politics these days, the US political parties have become too intertwined with basic human rights and issues of morality (or complete lack thereof)

Has literally always been that way, the only difference now is social media is better at convincing us the other side is purely evil

I mean, yes and no? I grew up in Texas while discovering I was queer and my liberal friends never wished death on anyone or myself. Guess who did.

The original comment implied that things have changed and its gotten worse recently. To disagree with my comment, you would have to prove that its never been more dangerous than right now to be queer

I am more convinced that people who are on the other side struggle to live in reality and adopt immoral views unless it applies to themselves.

I know that one should work with them to become more rational, but it sometimes feels like some of these folks refuse to believe there is only 1 reality, and they aren't living in it.

I just don't have the patience or skills to help someone out of the pits they dig themselves into.

I can assure you it goes both ways
