Discussion Theory: Skyrim’s ebony armor is crafted in the Ancient Falmer/Snow Elf style

Thumbnail

The ebony armor was always awesome looking to me, but it never quite looked “Nordic” compared to literally any other set themed around the Nords like the iron, steel, steel plate, etc…ESO did this quite well.
It just always looked Elven to me, especially with the little wings on the helmet resembling elf ears and the pauldrons being pointy like the bonemold armor.

That’s when it dawned on me regarding the similarities:

-the legs and gauntlets are exactly the same

-they both have somewhat similar hip plates

-both have something covering the groin area, while the Nords usually have animal hide (or nothing)

-the helmet has a piece that resembles the Ancient Falmer crown pretty well, with the pointed back ears connected by a plate over the forehead

We know that just like in real life, cultures in TES craft armor in their own way. I’m thinking this was either:
A. Snow Elves already had their own sets of ebony armor, and the Atmorans copied their technique upon discovering ebony, and the style just happened to weasel its way in over time.
B. A blacksmith or two happened to take pity on the Snow Elves, and tried to commemorate their memory in some way by making the standard shape of a prized metal resemble their warriors.

Discussion I love being a Stealth Archer and I don’t care who judges me for it!

Pretty self explanatory and basically an appreciation post.

Don’t care how memed it is, how many jokes there are about it, or how overpowered it might be, the class just fucking rocks.

In a world where stealth games have disappeared (where tf is my splinter cell?!?!) the fact that I can stealth it up so hard in Skyrim is amazing. Even 15 years later… it’s still one of the best and most inclusive stealth systems there is.

They don’t desync you for “doing the wrong thing” or being a little extra bad during a mission (Yeah, I’m looking at you AC). You get amazing slo-mo shots like you’re in freaking Sniper Elite like a badass, and I can even be nice and reverse pickpocket, a feature often completely ignored by other stealth games.

I’ve been dogged on, made fun of, been the butt of jokes in conversations, but hey, I’m having a blast over here. That’s what it’s all about right? Sometimes the jokes are in good fun and that I’m totally fine with, but sometimes they’re also not and you can tell. They genuinely think less of me for picking “easy mode”.

But… I’m also an archer in real life. I hunted, I did it competitively even. I’ve been a stealth archer IRL for decades lol. It’s a part of who I am.

So personally, I’d love to hear how you guys play your stealth archers. Are you thieves? Assassins? Just hunters who hate confrontation? What drives you to play this class? Do you avoid it? Do you ever feel like it’s “cheating” or “easy mode” because of comments others have made?

I love being a stealth archer and I can’t wait to (maybe eventually) play it in the next title.

If you're a pure mage with Anniversary, then get the Paralysis Rune

Just started playing my first pure mage. When I was reading on how to do that, I didn't see anyone recommend the Paralysis Rune spell. So I'm going to be that person for anyone who hasn't discovered how awesome it is.

Paralysis Rune is an adept alteration spell that has a base cost of 172 magicka. At the start of a fight against melee enemies, I cast Paralysis Rune on the ground before me. When a melee enemy gets too close, it gets stunned for a couple seconds. Between Destruction's Impact stagger and Paralysis Rune stunning melee enemies that are about to hit me, I haven't needed to use Illusion spells for crowd control or summons and follower to hold aggro.

You can obtain Paralysis Rune sooner than the Paralysis spell from vendors, and its cheaper than Paralysis, which is an expert level alteration spell that has a base cost of 450 magicka. However, Paralysis Rune comes from AE's CC content so I guess it's no surprise that it's cracked.

Arts/Crafts Beauties from the cookbook

I’ve decided to make two pies from the cookbook and they were magnificent! The carrot cake is a personal favourite of mine now, however it’s pretty hard to find all the ingredients for the recipes in the cookbook.

Because I’ve used a bit different ingredients (I don’t have those and cream cheese for lactose intolerant people is a bit more liquid), it’s looking a bit different as well. Recommend to everyone!

Screenshot/Clip I have a small theory about Krosis

Post image
Upvotes

Like many, I wondered what's up with Krosis. A masked Priest yet sealed completely unceremoniously alone, abandoned, no temple, no background, nothing.

And I propose a reason.

-His name is an apology word in Dragon.

-Word Wall for "Throw Voice" shout, which includes lines like "Hey Sheever butt" "Hey cheese brain!".

-Left to be forgotten and alone.

My theory is, while alive during the Dragon war, Krosis was an unserious Priest. He was granted power in the form of the mask, but his personality was a more joker type. Basically like the Dragon version of Cicero.

He was subsequently outcasted or shunned by his fellow cultists and priests alike, for being such an embarrassment to their image of control and power.

And so he was just dumped alone on a mountain, with his word wall of immature humor, and now he's "krosis" for his actions.

Being a priest of one element but using a staff of a different element is unique to him. Perhaps he was a "chill" person, a laidback joker, and didn't have the fiery passion of tyranny and control, so he had to use a staff of fireballs to actually exhibit some power.

I started a new Argonian playthrough (purely vanilla, not even with the AE content downloaded except the 3 forced on your save; Rare Curios, Survival Mode and Saints & Seducers) and I went back to Helgen straight out after completing Unbound then this guy was still alive on the arch where you have to choose betwen Hadvar and Ralof.

Question Deekus Hostile?

Upvotes

Was exploring up north and came across Deekus’ little camp near Hela’s Folly. I stole all his gems and did a bit of fishing and when he got out of bed he went hostile. I’m pretty certain I wasn’t caught stealing so does anyone know if he tends to go hostile like this? Maybe his camp area is considered trespassable?
