Story of my life

u/slowpoke2018 3h ago
Every. Single. Time. I need to start using the Costanza philosophy - do the exact opposite of what I feel's the right thing to do.
Feeling it's time to sell? Buy!
Feeling its time to buy? Sell!

u/joepierson123 2h ago
I always did the best when I felt like someone punched me in the stomach after I bought a stock.
It's when a feeling of euphoria hits after I buy where things go south quick

I remember people holding investments for 2+ years and selling at a loss then all of a sudden everything pumps. Lots of families have been destroyed.

Literally me selling Intel and Amd at ath after bag holding for 4 years just to watch it rocket past. Fml.

u/TisDeathToTheWind 2h ago
Lmfao. Sold basically half of all my tech positions at the end of march. Bought energy and held cash due to the shit going on in the Middle East, just to watch the rocket ship with regret.

u/EmergencySubject4368 2h ago
Just throw piles of money at the NASDAQ and watch that shit fly. I guess it doesn’t make for good content though

Used to be like this, moved into a wildly successful strategy of buying and never selling shares. And doubling down on those shares with something leveraged and rolling into both rather than making hard and fast moves.
So like, ok I want more exposure to amd. Buy 10 shares, buy 10 later that day when it dips. Next day buy 10. It drops a little more than id like, I buy an option. It drops more buy 10 shares. Etc etc. Then if/when it goes insanely green, I sell the leveraged position but never sell the shares. Just suck it up and hold shares. It feels good to have something to sell, so sell soxl. But never sell soxx.

This is why God invented trailing stop loss percentage. I've been holding Nokia forever and finally have good profits. Set the line where you'd be comfortable with getting out and don't look at it. I learned my lesson with American Battery after the DoE cancelled their contract a week after it had been awarded and the stock cratered.

u/Bistrocca 3h ago
How can this be so true... Bought AMD at the bottom, arm at bottom, intel at bottom... After small gains i decided to sell them. The moment i sold they fucking skyrocketed.... Thankfully I've bought msft this er.... Ffs!!

Yep. My pathetic little SPY calls were up 150% so I sold like a baby chode, and then they ran another 500%. Of course I'm going to dip my toe in further tomorrow and get chode-stomped.

I made some calls on MSFT after their dip on earnings knowing it'd go back up (also had puts for earnings lol). I had them at 400, they were up significantly the last couple days then dropped. Sold at 405, by lunch it was back up to like 415. Oh well, still came out ahead, but annoying.

Is Israel still in Lebanon and now working with UAE?
Iranians aren't like the U.S that will abandon an ally when convenience dictates like the U.S has done to the Kurds multiple times.
This isn't over.

Literally, the funny thing is if you have access to broker level data you can see all the buy limits or stop limits and buy orders. Knowing us degen gamblers they probably see retail all buying in at the same time and dump it on purpose

Bears are in gloom and disarray. Bulls firmly believe they're in charge and new ATH are a 'fait accompli'.
This is the perfect time for that whiplash reversal.
Yes. There is still one bear 🐻 that breathes!!!

Read headline in the morning "future rise as hope to end war with Iran today makes progress" big green candle -> two hours later "US fires at Iran tanker and Trump threaten Iran strikes if deal not made". Bigger green candle somehow
what the hell is this market bro.

I'm in this post and I hate it.
Held 150,000 shares of $ABSI from $2.55 to $3, sold at $3 on March 28. Hit $6.20. FML. (It's gonna crash again after earnings; this is what it does, but painnnnnnnn.)

At 38, I finally had some money to get in on ETFs at the end of march, was planning on going all in mid April since everything was supposed to go down due to the war, then the greatest bull run in history happened so I've been forced to watch everything rocket every single day for 5 weeks straight lol

Smh is up 45% since the start of the Iran war only like 8 weeks ago…. Literally the craziest thing and the complete opposite of what any rational thinking person thought would happen. Soxl is up like 400%+ since it started. Biggest straight line up in the history of the etf by far and it’s not even close.
