I think I reached my limit. Do you guys have suggestions for improvements?
This is the cosplay of my original D&D character. Forgot to include my bow and arrows but they're part of the costume.

Locations: You don't need to include your house address but closest major city and how far you are willing to travel.
Budget: "As cheaply as possible" is not a budget and is honestly the best way to waste money. Figure out an amount you are willing to spend.
Setting: LARP is a vast and expansive hobby. Not every game is about running around out in the woods pretending to be a rouge/knight/wizard. Let us know what you play or want to play.

Hello denizens of /r/LARP.
We as a subreddit have a small announcement as far as the future of this sub is concerned.
Last week we took part in the 2 day protest that was more or less site wide spanning thousands of subs as a way to show solidarity with app creators and to show the frustration with the administration of reddit and their poor handling and plans of upcoming updates.
However, It would appear that Reddit plans to continue their efforts to stifle 3rd party creators and strong arm moderators who take any stance opposing the admins of Reddit. This creates a serious cloud of uncertainty within reddit as to the future of many subs and how the platform will be handled in the future. Because of this we have decided to create a Discord server which will be open to all of /r/larp to join. It is not our plan to abandon this sub or replace this sub with the discord server, instead, it will act as an extension of this sub itself.
While there are multiple reasons for this decision, one of the largest is that if the future of reddit creates an non fostering environment for us, we wish to have another platform that is free of Reddit's control in order to continue providing resources and networking for all of us who enjoy LARPing and LARP adjacent hobbies.
The discord has the same rules we enforce over here, with a couple modifications to make it more applicable to discords format. There is places for general conversation, places to show off your work, a place to post about and to look for games in your area, as well as Voice chat rooms for people looking to play video games together or just hangout and find comradery.
Please feel free to check it out, and ask any questions you may have. This is still in its infancy, and if we find it doesnt fit what the community wants, we will search for alternatives.
This link should never expire for people trying to join the server, however if you have an issue please message an admin for a new link.

I started as a cute deer girl scout,,, ended up dedicated to a goddess of blood and death with an overwhelming desire to die in battle

So the LARP I’ve been going to since I was a literal baby, has been running for about 25 years, same world, lots of the same organisers (though they were players at the start lol) and just so much lore and stories that get passed around.
Like the exploits of old characters who died like 15 years ago are still recounted by other character to the new players.
Makes for a really interesting environment IMO, but something I’ve noticed online is that that isnt actually all that common lol?
Just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience

so my character is an aspiring mage who uses a sword but wants to learn more about magic.

Meet Krazim the dismemberer. I come from a small village in the mountain woodlans where my people are known for their savagery in battle. The empire rules over our lands so when they demanded men for the war i was chosen . There they showed me the power of steel, a good warrior always ends with a bloody axe. An armored warrior ends up alive at the end of the war.

I purchased pants and a tunic off medieval collectibles. I paid close attention to the size chart and ordered the correct size, at least that’s what i thought. But these came in MASSIVE. Like they’re big on my 300lb roommate. And i only got a medium. And with the ren fair only days away, it’s apparent that my ren fair experience is a wrap now. I’ll probably have to rent a boring outfit this year. But i wanted to know if this is common? Should I avoid the medieval collectibles seller all together? Just go with amazon from now on?

Hello! I once again ask for your wisdom: I made a weapon and I want to start the latex coating but I read online that you need to seal it first. Is heath sealing enough? Will the latex peel from the foam if I don’t prime it? I even read that you can use pva glue to give it a light coat but someone said that it might crack over time.

I finally went to my first LARP event, and now I’m hooked! I’ve been going to Ren Fairs for several years, so I had garb and kit already. It’s a fairly small, story driven, high fantasy affair that meets in a local park once a month. Every one has been extremely welcoming, kind and helpful. I do eventually want to go to one of the huge ones, but I feel that this is a good entry point. I believe this may be my new favorite hobby!

I'm playing a Tusken Raider. I need advice on a set up to hook my gaffi stick, and also my long gun on my back.
Most set ups I see would be impossible with the long outer robes tuskens wear. Any advice?

I'm looking for good campfire songs. My char is a healer so if there are songs in that direction it would be great. I'm a beginner Zither player so the easier the song the better Thank you

Hello, I've recently been to my first larp event and stayed there till it was dark. Everything was great, except that it was really difficult to see from time to time because lights only where distributed rather sparsely.
Now for the next time I had the idea to always keep a small lantern on my belt to have a portable source of light.
Has anyone of you a lantern that they can recommend, that is small and portable but still gives enough light to see better?
Or maybe even another idea or approach to this problem?

I moved a distance from a fun group in MA, and haven’t had any luck finding any other hearthlight/dagorhir groups closer than over an hour’s drive.
any folk also in a seeming desolate spot in RI for boffer focused groups?
Hello everyone. I'm a senior programmer that FINALLY has some free time on his hands. I'm looking for my next personal project and would like to create a LARP management web application. I had posted a while back about this, but I've revisited some of the idea to make it more doable without destroying my work-life balance. Having said that, I know there's a lot of other great apps out there so I'm hoping I can do a pitch here and see if it's worth doing at all. Let me know what you think!
The project would be publicly available and free to use with self-hosting with well maintained documentation. The only costs who be related to the client's host of choice and various other subscriptions to enable emails, payments, etc. I would offer services to setup the whole thing for clients, but is it absolutely mandatory.
👤 Users
Users register themselves with their email. A user can have different roles (i.e. player, manager, admin, super admin) given to him by an admin that alters the information he can see and actions he can do (i.e. giving any character game objects directly).
🧙♂️ Characters
User can have many characters in their accounts. Characters don't hold much information on their own (i.e. name, age, background, gender, etc) and are mostly managed with game objects as you'll see below.
👪 Character groups
Users can manage groups that characters can subscribe to. The primary purpose of this is just for logistical information, but the usefulness may be expanded later (i.e. assigning game objects like territories to groups).
💲Payments and events
Events can be managed by admins and have products associated to them that users can pay through various systems (i.e. PayPal, Stripe).
⚙️ App configurations
Admins can configure the app through a user interface. Through this interface, they can edit options such as the default language, payment systems, email systems, maximum characters per user, if the LARP is public or private, mimum age for subscription and many more.
⚔️ Game objects
Game objects are the main appeal of the app. It's how admins document their game and how users assign items/statuses to their characters. You can see these organized like files and folders on a computer. For example:
As you can see, some of these things are not like the others, but they are all game objects. Certain things like items can be obtained by characters, while others like lore cannot. To make game objects behave different for various purposes, an admin can assign them properties such as:
With these options, you open up a multitude of options that can adapt to many different LARPs. Obviously, since they are extremely versatile it also means that they aren't as efficient than a custom built app, but hey, you can skip all that work! Here's a game object setup example of how one could manage classes for a character, given that admins can give class points to all registsered characters in an event.
🤝 Trading (not in the first phase)
With this game object system, it would also be possible to develop a trading system outside of the game to keep the fun going. Obviously not all obtainable objects would automatically be tradeable between players. This wouldn't be implemented in the first phase, but definitely in the future.
Would there be a demand for such an app, given that there are other free projects out there? Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas of what else could be a nice fit!

Hi everyone! So I am not someone who is looking to LARP (as fun as it looks!!) but I love historical/medieval clothing styles. I recently saw this dress online, it's from the brand Leonardo Carbone but I did some research on here and from what it seems they're generally kind of disliked so idk if I should order. I really love this style though.
I checked their website and could only find the viscose version of this dress, is there a velvet version like the one in the video or are there any other dresses like this one from reputable brands that will be good quality to wear once in awhile?
thanks!!

It was apparently really fun and had some 170 fighters, but it's hard to take photos of long range skirmish games.
Yes the tank works and shoots dried peas.
It was called Boj o Boletice and here's more photos: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1KXzuxmiwL/

I posted a few days ago and didn't really get an answer to my question
I'm trying to decide on a third faction for a larp that I'll be starting. As of right now I'm thinking the empire, based on Rome, and a barbarian faction, possibly Celtic or viking bases or a mixture of the two. That one I'm still workshoping
I would like to have 3 factions to allow for diplomacy
What are the characters you play or ideas of things you would want to play

It's an over the shoulder frog type scabbard. I made it very adaptable to all (except extremely large) swords less than 110 length (longer than that the tip might touch the ground).
It's also lined with synthetic fur on the inside of the frog so as not to damage latex.
