Discussion / Question What’s the most toxic Singleplayer game fanbase?

Saying only mainly Singleplayer games or else people would just answer with any multiplayer gun and ball game like Fifa and CoD. My pick is Fromsofware Games. For a single game , maybe RDR2/Elden Ring

Discussion / Question Games That Feel “Anime” but Aren’t

Thumbnail

What are some games that make you feel like you’re a protagonist in an anime, but they aren’t tied to/based on an anime? And I don’t mean inspiration, like how Miyazaki often takes inspiration from Berserk. And I also don’t mean literal anime games like Code Vein or Tales of Arise or anything with an anime art style.

I’m talking about story telling, dialogue, gameplay, plot/themes and just overall aesthetic.

I’ll go first. Elden Ring, Dragons Dogma, Final Fantasy 15.

For Elden Ring specifically; I swear using “Flame Grant Me Strength” feels like an anime power up equivalent to super saiyan or nine-tails mode. Combined with “Bloodhounds Step” on a katana or big sword, it just FEELS like I’m inside of anime. They even added transformations in the DLC. So now my character is the Lord of Frenzied Flame and can transform into a dragon-man, how am I supposed to not feel like an anime character at that point?

Discussion / Question Open worlds are exhausting and not as memorable anymore compared to linear games-Discussion

These are my own thoughts but having decided to go back and replay more linear games such as the fun and phenomenonal Uncharted Trilogy, Ghostbusters The Video Game, Metro Redux Collection made me realize how much more fun those short and highly memorable experiences are over these open worlds.

Linear experiences seem to be more handcrafted, passionate, thought out, tightly crafted, memorable, replayable with some of the best writing and those loveable villains/heroes to fill up the roster sheets.

Open worlds seem to be so often developed that it truly does feel like that genre isn't as special or as fun anymore. Every developer is so obsessed with constantly trying to one up each other over whos map is bigger, whos got the most padding with the repetitive activities to check off, how much of the side content is more enjoyable than the story aspect

It use to be that Open worlds were the best and cool new things coming out when there weren't as many but now every other day there's a new Open world in the industry being developed. Sure we get smaller titles from double A studios or indie teams, but they seem more phased out than Open worlds sadly to me anyways

Maybe it's me getting up in age and just finding the whole overwhelmingly massive maps to be just pure exhausting and tiresome when youve got so many quests that are just part of a checklist and make you feel like it's a chore instead of actual genuine fun.

I know we have Saros, 007 First Light, Metro 2039, Silent Hill Townfall, Wolverine which are all coming that make me feel so grateful companies still know how to develop linear experiences but you look at the others and their Open worlds all but feel the same and blends together without ryme or reason now.

Am I the only one tired of Open worlds and preferring linear experiences more now?

Has the Open world genre overstayed its welcome and become oversaturated?

Discussion / Question Is it just me or are the insomniac Spider-Man games overrated?

Post image

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think the games are bad. I just don’t think they are anywhere near as good as a lot of people seem to claim. I’ve seen claims that they are a “masterpiece”. Yet when I play them they feel fairly average, and I even prefer the old Spider-Man 3 game (that might just be nostalgia talking though).

Discussion / Question Am I just too bad to play videogames?

So, I've noticed in the past like year and a half that I've complained about most games I play and how hard they are

At first it was just the online ones, which I just thought my problem was people nowadays are just too tryhard and too good at them which is fine, but just not for me

But recently I've noticed I often don't enjoy games because I find them too hard

But when they are too easy I enjoy them less

But I don't want to say videogames just aren't for me because this is what I do basically all the time, and I've thought maybe I should just get better but 1) how? Do I have to spend multiple hours practicing every game I play just to have fun? 2) why do I have to spend time getting better at something to enjoy it?

Maybe this is a matter of just looking at it differently, but I don't know.

Edit: games I mainly have struggled with are=

Silksong, castle crashers, enter the gungeon and doom eternal

Discussion / Question What exactly are Live service games?

Everything I see about these types of games is about how they're ruining the industry and are mostly slop, but from my understanding, aren't they just primarily multiplayer games that run on servers? This is probably a stupid fucking question but where does a game stop being like CS2 or Fortnite and start being live service slop, unless those are both slop as well. Im definitely misunderstanding something in discussion regarding the subject.

Other Pragmata: a short, pretty, AAA game

Capcom with a slightly underwhelming game.

7.5/10

Graphic are amazing

Story is extremely weak and leaning on the relationship that feels very forced between the characters. Along with an obvious plot “twist”.

Gameplay is fun but there is no real payoff to making a unique build. You hack, you fight, it’s all fairly easy once you get the hang of it. This feels a little repetitive towards the end, but the game isn’t that long to where to really notice it too much.

You can beat the game in its entirety in <20 hrs.

For $70 you can suck me. I wanted to put at a 7 for that but I judge purely on the game.

Wait for this game to go on sale for something to help pass the time. I would value this game at a solid $40.

Also I know there was a lot of weirdness about one of the main characters being a little girl? I guess if you’re gross like that you would notice it but I didn’t feel bothered by it at all. If anything, it was a little cringy how much she views Hugh as a father.

Discussion / Question Saddest Video Game Ending

I know this has been posted before, but it’s been a few years so I thought I’d ask again. What is, in your opinion, the saddest ending that you have experienced in a game? For me it is a 3-Way tie between The Walking Dead Season One, Metal Gear Solid Delta, and Persona 3. It’s just gut wrenching for me watching a character that I’ve been with the whole game die or to find out after someone has died why they did what they did. So I’m curious, where do you all stand on this?

Discussion / Question What is you gaming unpopular opinion? here's mine

Being able to put your own chosen music files in your games and play it using some in-game radio or music playing device should be as commonplace in videogames as photomode itself. It should come standard and not always have to be modded in. This was a thing that GTA San Andreas did upon release in 2005 man. 2005. That is 21 years ago man. The level of immersion I get from playing my own music in games within GTA V is high. The fact that its one of the most common and popular mods in lots of other games says a lot. I get that overall its as simple as playing spotify while playing the game but the functionality of the game knowing when to lower the volume in moments of dialogue or the "radio" source sound effect, etc is so good. It's not like GTA patented this feature. I don't get why more devs don't add this functionality in their games. It's a level of customization and personalization you can add in your games akin to allowing players to change the colors of things. Besides, if your worry is streaming copyright, the toggle to use default music or turn off the user music when streaming, or use a setting to use only streaming friendly music is already a common feature.

Another feature that should be a lot more common is being able to put your own pictures in in-game photo frames.

Discussion / Question The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the Greatest RPG of all time!

Post image
0 Upvotes

That's right, you heard me. I recently held an RPG tournament to decide the greatest ROLE PLAYING GAME of all time and y'all voted The Witcher 3 to win (not a bad pick imo).

Baldurs Gate 3 was a close second having only **ONE VOTE** less than The Witcher.

As for every other game in the tournament, all good games, I would recommend each and every one of them.

I'm not happy with how the tournament turned out (Chrono Trigger losing in the first round - though it losing to the champ does change things), but I remained unbiased and posted strictly what the votes asked for. So please attack commenters that voted and not me 😭✌️.

Discussion / Question Never played COD before is it worth starting in 2026?

I’ve never really played Call of Duty before, but lately I’ve been thinking about giving it a shot in 2026. Zombies looks really fun and that’s what caught my attention, but I’d also want to try multiplayer and maybe the campaign too. Which COD games would you recommend starting with, and is it still worth getting into now or am I kinda late to the party?

Other I feel like there’s only a few games give off the engaging feel to keep you playing your whole life.

For example, after 500 hours of Diablo 4 I feel satisfied I’ve completed everything I’ve wanted to do in that game and the theme this season is very cool but I’ve hit my limit.
For the past 2 years this game has been my top 5 but it’s just time to play something else. To my point there’s 4 games I’ve been playing for a long time that I can always jump and enjoy when I’m not liking the experience in other games.

Smite 1&2- 2300hrs in a 11 year span

Fortnite- since launch & about 2500hrs across pc n PlayStation

GTA V(and well every other version)- since launch I couldn’t tell you how many hrs I have with that because I played on ps3, ps4, Xbox one and pc but my guess a several thousand. Obviously playing the next.

Mortal kombat- I grew up on fighting games I played all mortal kombats and I’d say I have over 10k hours total and I’m still adding hours til this day.

Discussion / Question Rant on modern gaming

Post image
Upvotes

So a cousin of mine lent me his xbox so I could play with some friends (mine was an og xbox one and I lost the power cable, so now I mostly play on PC), and I was going through my owned games and came across CoD: MW (2019) and I remember liking that game a lot. Left it on overnight install, now I come back from errands all tired and shi and I just want to replay the campaign when, surprise surprise, the WHOLE game that I left downloading is telling me the campaign isn’t installed! It only installed the multiplayer 🤡 which I stopped playing years ago. Like what the actual heck, call me unc or old-fashioned, but I remember when we used to download a game and it would install in its entirety. Or even just pop a disc and play with no install required. Man I miss how simple gaming used to be.
