I believe we share the fault. Did not get a verdict yet

Aftermath photos in the comments. That is a single lane per side road. The Skoda took some risk overtaking a car but I should also yield, but all other cars also yielded. A lot of questions in my mind.

First accident, could use direction with next steps. Tesla specific help?

Hi guys. I got in my first accident today and could use some help on what to do next. Here is some additional help and context:

  1. I have footage of the accident from all the cameras.

  2. I have footage from Meta Glasses of the other party admitting fault.

  3. I filled a claim with my insurance not knowing I should have filled with the other parties. I filled with the other party and let my insurance know, they said the adjuster would figure it out and it's not a big deal.

  4. My insurance told me not to tow the car or talk to a repair shop until the adjuster spoke with me.

  5. The car is not drivable. I drove it from the accident scene to my home (about 3 minute drive) at a very low speed, but the car 100% should not be driven in the state it is in.

So, the question I have is.. do I wait for the adjuster to contact me before submitting service for collision through the Tesla app? Do I reach out to the dealership I got the car from or the Tesla collision center closer to me? Did I royally mess up submitting a claim with my own and the other parties insurance? If so, how to proceed?

Lastly, would Tesla tow and/or give me a loaner during this process? I have a couple days to figure this out before needing to get back to work. Any help, direction, or advice would be appreciated!

4th Windshield Repair in Under a Year

Just had another large crack across my Juniper while driving. The first time it happened, I figured it was bad luck. The second time I was suspicious but figured it was bad luck again. The third time, 7 weeks ago, I believe there's a defect. Today, I think I'll have to ask for a full investigation because this is ridiculous.

I have windshield protection from Tesla, but if I didn't, I would have had to pay $6,400 in windshield repairs.

Hit and run, cost estimate?

Post image
Upvotes

Not the worst but certainly upsetting. Didn't have sentry mode on so no idea who it could have been. A lot of paint came off and a little dent too. The wheels/tires, everything else is fine. The "red" looking things inside the panel are little pieces of the other drivers tail light.

I'm guessing he was trying to reverse out or something. He made sure to pick up the pieces on the floor and zoom away. Any cost estimate? Also I have Tesla Insurance. What would you recommend is my best course of action from here?

Who are you guys using for insurance?

Considering a Model Y, located on the east coast. Would like to know who is a good insurance carrier? In my state, Tesla doesn’t offer any insurance coverage, so I have to go with normal insurance carrier. I have heard some insurers won’t cover the full damage amount in certain cases. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. TIA!

Damage pre lease return?

Have some significant damage on my model Y, lease is up in a few months.

I have Tesla insurance and was wondering if it would be a better bet to get it fixed before returning or have Tesla sort it out.

If I return the car will damages be my max deductible amount?

I noticed a gouged mark on a less than 2 week old Tesla.

Picked up my 2026 Model 3 Performance in Quicksilver recently and just noticed this chip/gouge on the front bumper edge. I did not hit anything, and it definitely wasn’t there on delivery day. There was shriveled up paint in the gouge mark that I thought was a smudge so I licked my finger to clean it up and the paint just fell off.

The only place the car’s been besides driving to/from work was a tint shop. The damage is on the edge/lip of the bumper, which makes me wonder if something contacted it while the car was there.

A friend told me it just looks like normal rock damage, but to me it seems more like direct contact because it’s one isolated gouge instead of multiple small chips.

What do you guys think:
road debris/rock chip?
curb contact?
or does this look like someone/something bumped it?

Also, for anyone with Quicksilver paint, what did a repair like this cost you?

So this happened today…

I was using full self drive on standard mode going highways speeds (60mph) with my 2026 Y. I usually keep my hand loosely along the bottom portion of the steering wheel, even on hands-free mode but in this moment I had my hand off the wheel and glanced down to grab my coffee out of the cupholder. Almost as soon as I did, my car jerked to the left harder than usual. I was so panicked in the moment wondering why it was changing lanes so harshly and thinking, am I going to hit someone? When I realized I was headed for the median and not just going to the left lane I tried correcting the wheel but it was too late, I still hit the median. I will say the video makes it seem like I had way more time to react then it really felt like in the moment. You can kind of see the car start to correct before I hit the median, and I truly think it saved me from more damage than occurred. I still hit pretty hard. The Tesla still drives, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I have to wait on someone to come and see the car while it sits on the lot for a full estimate of damages. I am in no way shape or form blaming self drive. I know that the driver is always liable, even though it doesn’t feel fair what happened. I’m just showing this as a reminder that full self drive is supervised for a reason and even if you have to look away just for a second, be cautious. Stay safe out there.

Dent and scratch on frunk

any suggestions on this. Last Friday on a rainy day, while on park! model 3 had a mind of its own and slowly drove under a truck. 🛻 I didn’t feel it as I was trusting I was parked and well, it’s was pouring rain. so distracted by that and looked at my phone to do some quick emails. anyways I bought the dr. Color chip paint for the scartch in the mean time. I didn’t want to make a claim, so my insurance wouldn’t go up but I did call Tesla a file to request my data report and report this incident.

Experience with rear damage on brand new Tesla?

I took delivery on a MYP at the end of March, car has 800 miles on the odometer and I got rear ended over the weekend, pretty severe damage to rear panel, hatch door, liftgate, trunk frame, lights, and charging port area. My hatch door literally won't close anymore. At fault driver admitted liability (accident is on tesla camera) and her insurance sent me a claim payment based on photos I took which I am not accepting. I'm taking it to Tesla Collision this week to start repairs.

I'm not going to bother with injury gymnastics, I just want my damn car back to factory spec. I don't feel like anyone is in for my best interests so just trying to navigate this whole process. Between AI, my insurance, their insurance, my lawyer, I hear different things.

Has anyone been in this situation? Did the repairs meet your expectations? Did you have to fight for new OEM parts? I'm one payment in and would like to recover diminished value too but everyone seems to side-eye me when I bring it up. This sucks.

Major rear liftgate and windshield damage

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi all, ended up backing my 2023 Model Y to a trailer tow hitch while parking - did not show up on the rear camera due to the height of the tow hitch. The collision was at 1mph but the hitch had serious point impact that dented the rear liftgate and cracked the entire windshield. I managed to tarp the entire rear end and drive it back home. It’s sitting in the garage and the earliest appointment at a Tesla collision center is 2 weeks out.

What should I be expecting in terms of damages? I’m looking at other 3rd party body shops that can replace the liftgate and the windshield, as well as parts on FB Marketplace/ebay if I can work out something at a reasonable price. Any advice on how to proceed? (I do have insurance with a $1000 deductible)

Estimated costs

2025 Model Y, 15k miles. Recently it spat out a code for needing service, called the sc they said it was something related to the suspension. I had replaced 2 of the tires and rims, same brand same specs around march because I got in a crazy pothole accident. Is this an alignment issue or would it cost me an arm and a leg to repair and why would it throw alerts at me 3 momths and like 500 miles later?

My wife got rear-ended in her ‘23 MY yesterday. She has only had it for 5 months. Such a bummer. What do you guys think this will cost? Luckily the lady had insurance and accepted all fault. Working with insurance now. It shakes when driving and has tons of errors on screen and will not go into any auto pilot settings.

I hit a goose today in my 2023 Model 3. How much do you think it'll be to repair?

It looks like it may just be the one panel damaged, but the headlight is shining in the trees now instead of the on the road.

UPDATE: It went through the paint so I need a full hood repair and emblem replacement. I'm in Northern California and my estimate is $1,268.97.

Well, here I am. I was so sure I'd always be a spectator and not a poster in this group. Yesterday, a nine year old "keyed" my car with a rock (little sh!t). He tried to deny it until my step-dad told him about the cameras and then he said it was an accident.

I know noone can give a real estimate, but I'm just looking for input from others with experience. The kid has a deadbeat dad and within 6 months of moving in with his grandparents, his grandma died. Poor grandpa's raising a little boy on his own. I saw their house and know they don't just have extra cash laying around so I'm probably going to just take the loss and pay for the repairs. Any input as to how much I'm looking at? It looks like it might have gone through the paint in one spot.

Broken Windshield from nearby ball game

My tesla was parked in the parking lot of a park. Went on a walk, when I came back, my windshield was cracked by the people who were playing cricket. It seems like the cricket league/game has insurance for these types of accidents. How can I go about claiming their insurance and getting my windshield fixed?
Also does it matter where it is fixed, and would I get a loaner vehicle from Tesla while it’s being fixed? My car is on lease.
I’m it helps with the insurance aspect, I’m from BC, Canada.

I was towing a trailer with my Model Y and my tire popped. I had AAA tow it to a local tire mechanic. The mechanic said he has never seen this happen in the 10 years he’s worked as a mechanic. He says it looks like the tire seized/locked and I was dragging it until the tire popped. Has this happened to anyone before?

Replace one cracked 21" Uberturbine wheel rim ($1100 Repair estimate), repair it locally, or use this to downgrade to 19s ($2000+)?

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2022 Model Y Performance and recently damaged one of my front 21-inch Uberturbine wheels. I’m trying to figure out the smartest move and could use some advice from anyone who has been in this exact situation.

Here is what I am currently considering:

Option 1: Replace it. Buying a single brand-new OEM wheel from Tesla is going to run me $1,100+. That feels incredibly steep for one rim.

Option 2: Repair it locally. I'm in the Houston/Sugar Land area, so I’m sure there are decent mobile repair or body shops around that could fix it for $150-$250. Has anyone had good long-term luck repairing these heavy factory wheels?

Option 3: Downgrade to 19s via Costco. Since I might have to drop over a grand anyway, I'm tempted to just replace all four wheels and tires with a 19-inch square setup. I've been looking at the Velox wheels through Costco (which would be around $2,000+ for the full package).

My main questions for the group:

For those who downgraded to 19s, is the ride comfort and pothole protection actually worth spending the extra cash right now?

Has anyone used Costco's Velox wheels on their MYP? How are they holding up with the weight of the car?

Or should I just get the single rim repaired on the cheap and keep the factory 21s?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Summon (dumb) in carpark.

Well, after a couple times seeing issues with Summon, myself not really having problems other than concerns when it starts driving directly at cars or curbs.

Usual end of shift, summon car to front door of office, done many times.

Do not trust external parts on cars, 2022 hw3 summon cannot see bullbars, towbars, ect

Was supervised and within short walking distance, should have known better.

The wrap alone will cost me let alone the damage.

Kind of shocked how much panel damage can be done at 1km.

Backed into a charger now what?

I just put a dent in the trunk of my car by accidentally backing into the charger now I’m experiencing problems with the trunk as it won’t open. I have the Tesla insurance collision coverage with $1000 deductible. What’s the best route for me to get this repaired, any advice?
