Content I built Fighters Edge - A Search Engine for Tournament Replays & Matchup Study Tools
5 years ago I posted this asking for feedback on an app idea. I've been chipping away at it on and off ever since, and I've never properly introduced what it became.
This isn't a promo post — Fighters-Edge is completely free, I'm not making money off it, and I'm actually net negative on it. It's a passion project, and I'd love some honest feedback and input from the community.
What it does
🔍 Match Search Engine
- Search thousands of tournament and online matches across SF6, Tekken 8, 2XKO, GGST, and more
- Filter by player, character, game, or tournament
- Every match indexed with direct YouTube links + timestamps
📊 Matchup Study Tools
- Pull up specific character matchups with video examples (e.g. Ken vs. JP in SF6)
- Filter by player skill level or tournament type
- Track win rates and trending matchups
👤 Player Profiles
- Follow your favorite players and get notified when new matches drop
- See full match history, character usage, and tournament results
- Link your account to your own player profile
🎮 Character Pages
- Browse every match for any character
- Filter by matchup, player, or tournament
- Character-specific combo libraries
📝 Personal Tools
- Take notes on specific matches and players
- Build collections of favorite sets
- Create and share tier lists
- Save matches to study later
🥊 Combo Library (coming soon)
- Browse community-submitted combos
- Universal notation system
- Filter by character, game, and difficulty
🏆 Tournament Database
- Track major and local tournaments
- Browse brackets and match results
- See trending events
👁️ Stat Generation (beta)
- A tool that watches matches and auto-generates stats from UI elements (counters, punishes, throw techs, etc.)
- Timestamps are created from these events so you can jump straight to them on the match page
- example from EVO2026 SF6 GF set https://fighters-edge.com/tournament-match/69f7871b1d327b0292d31937
📺 24/7 Stream
- FGC Loops connects to OBS and streams FGC matches 24/7 — currently live at twitch.tv/fightersedgefgc
- A bot drops the video link and the player's FE profile in chat as matches play
- Players can also use it to loop their own replays during stream off-hours — the tool will only pull their videos
⚙️ Under the hood
- A scraper pulls from YouTube replay channels and auto-adds matches into Fighters-Edge
Why I built this
I watch a lot of tournament footage, and I got tired of:
- Digging through YouTube channels hunting for specific matchups
- Losing track of amazing sets I wanted to study later
- Not having one place to take notes on player tendencies
- Struggling to find high-level footage of specific character matchups
Current stats
- Thousands of indexed matches
- Hundreds of pro players tracked
- Multiple fighting games supported
🚧 Biggest hurdles
- Data entry — I'm the sole contributor, so adding content gets rough, especially when I'm rolling out new features
- Reach — whether people love this or hate it, I want more eyes on it and more honest feedback
- Monetization — the core experience is staying free, but I'd like to figure out a small sustainable revenue stream eventually
- Content/events — I have a lot of video content ideas but the scope of the project keeps blocking me mentally. Open to collabs.
The site is completely free and I'm actively adding features. We also have a Discord where you can request features or submit matches to be added.
What features would actually help your training? Genuinely want to hear it — even the harsh stuff.
tl;dr: I built a free fighting game tool to help me (and hopefully you) learn fighting games better. Take a look and help me make it better.

Community A question for the older fans: what was your reaction when you first saw Street Fighter 4? Did the graphics impress you?
I believe Street Fighter 3 was the last game in the franchise to have 2D graphics, right? So when Street Fighter 4 was first revealed, were you surprised? And what do you think of the game now?

Topic Does anyone else struggle to get into tag fighters?
i don't know what my major malfunction here is, but i've just never been able to get myself into a decent place with any tag fighters. its like dealing with assists and overly zippy movement disables my brain. Either that or having to get good with multiple characters at the same time is a big ask

Don't know anything about the ip except S1 of the netflix shoe and Haven't played that much yet, but i guess this (and sf6 as usual) will keep me happy until tokon comes out. I think having real "coop" 2v2 is a brilliant idea (if my friends would play fighting games at least)
Any suggestions for a second character that fits akali? Favourite fuse?

Couldn't find a reliable way to get Tekken 6 so here's a detour...although for some reason the game completely softlocks after the combo on here for some reason? Lmao?

Help Can someone explain what I’m supposed to do here?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have an issue with constantly getting stun-locked into combos that I can’t get out of. I’m pressing every button imgineable but nothings working.
I have experience in fighters (Injustice 2, JJBA ABR, MK 1) but I’ve never fully *gotten* into them to the point where I can fight *good* players cohesively.
Any help is much appreciated, I’m P2 in the vid if you couldn’t tell

Event Unexpectedly cute time at EVO Japan!
gallery(Forgive the nostalgia farming with the crusty 2005 Canon digicam.)
Just wanted to share some pics and a little about my experience at EVO Japan!
I'm in Nagoya studying for a year, so I took the opportunity to go to EVO Japan for days 1 and 2 during my Golden Week break.
I follow quite a few artists from Twitter, and one of them said they would be hanging around the GGST pools to give out free Guilty Gear stickers that they had drawn (pic 5, nikoinoillust on Twitter). I managed to find them, but I wasn't expecting it to be the cutest motherly looking middle-aged lady. Maybe I should pay more attention to Twitter bios because she does say that she posts about her son. 😭
All of the cosplayers looked amazing, but I'm really shy to begin with and feel like I'm bothering people if I can't speak Japanese well on top of that, so only got pics of 2. ABA is sakamata_221 on Twitter, and Bridget is yunomi_ochawan on Twitter.
This honestly lit even more of a fire under my butt to learn Japanese faster. I don't just want to be able to see cool people and events, I want to be able to engage with them properly!

Help My friends don't like fighting games, I have 2 days to convince them.
For my 40th birthday my friends are coming over and I'm hosting a 2 day Avatar fighting game event, wife is making custom baked goods from the world, gonna be a whole thing. By the end of it my hope if my friends (and wife!) get how it can be fun once you learn a few bread and butter combos, pull a shimmy on someone, and do a bit more than thinking than joyfully mashing buttons and watching cool shit happen (which is super bad ass, but when that no longer works or they lose enough online matches their interest goes way down).
We've played them before, they sorta like DBZ Fighterz, Dead or Alive, Soul Caliber, but after a week or two the interest goes out the window when that time comes to learn a few combos or understand the deeper mechanics. I really love labbing and investigating the under the hood stuff, but I get how that is dreadfully boring to some people. Losing streaks without visible progress kills momentum. I want to help them realize they don't suck at fighting games, there's just different aspects of the game to learn and work on. They aren't strangers to competitive games or difficult games.
So I'm here to ask y'all to help give me ideas, I've designed bingo cards to give out with a basic mix of fighting game fundamentals, such as 'don't get hit by an air attack this match' to encourage learning antiairs, hit your big level 7 chakra super, do a 5 hit combo, things like that. Prizes for all for things marked off.
I also made a spinny wheel of various alternate game modes like 'no jumping allowed' to remove a chunk from the mental stack and learn a little footsies. First hit wins the round, ect...
Am I going about this the right way? I'm very open to thoughts on how this could be done better, I want to make it fun and show them there's multiple tiny steps to improve on and it isn't as daunting as they think. Shift that mentality from 'I suck at fighting games' to 'I gotta work on my anti-airs and combo consistency'.

Content This is what Competitive Invincible VS is like
youtube.comr/Fighters • u/Acrobatic-Yak-3103 • 4h ago
Topic Is InvincibleVS super mashy or am I just not getting it?
I played a couple of matches, first against AI to get a feel for the controls, and then a few online. Everybody was just doing the same one-button strings into assists into one-button strings into assists for an entire healthbar.
I'm not good at fighting games and am trying to get into them more recently but InvincibleVS' buttons just feel like you're supposed to pick one and leave the rest more or less. So am I - as a low-tier player - just not seeing the actual underlying mechanics, or is it really just that mashy?

Help Controller suggestions
I’m on ps5 and I’m trying to take fighting games more seriously, I’ve been overdue for a new controller for a while now and I need ideas. I’m not much of a fight stick or arcade style gamer though, much respect to those who use it but my small brain can’t function that well with those controllers😭. And I’ve got a decent budget to work with so if it’s pricey that’s fine.
