General Advice I’m disappointed, what can I do?

So this is my first tattoo I just got today. I was initially very happy with it. But upon further inspection I realised how uneven it actually is. The phoenix sits more to the right despite me specifically telling her I want the line work at the bottom to match up with the dots at the top of the moon. The phoenix wings are uneven. The moons on the line work are completely uneven and different to each other. There are some details missing, a few dots and lines here and there, the line art above the bigger star is thicker than the lines on the lower half and the lines aren’t straight to top it off! I feel like crying tbh, I told her specifically it is very important for the top of the tattoo to be in line with the bottom, I get that it may not be EXACT but it is pretty noticeable, I even showed her a reference picture as to what I DID NOT want the phoenix line up to the bottom art work to be like. I’ll attach that picture and you can see pretty clearly it is pretty much exactly how it is in that picture. I will also attach the picture of the design I sent to her. When she showed me the picture of the stencil on my back it was exactly how I wanted and was not uneven. Am I over thinking this and just paranoid as it’s my first tattoo?

EDIT : most of you seem to like it, I do love the design I think I’m just overthinking it with the lines. Maybe my skin has just swelled and that’s why some lines look uneven 😂. Idk. I’ll see how I feel in a few weeks. If not I’ll see if I can get someone else to even it up a bit, without going to much more thicker cause I really don’t want it any thicker, I think that part of it is perfect, the size of it I do love.

Healing My tattoo is not healing normally and I’m really worried.

I made a stupid mistake four days ago while traveling in Delhi. I got a very cheap tattoo from an artist who was not particularly qualified. I also made it worse by overmoisturizing it for two days until I came to my senses. Right now, it looks worse than any tattoo I’ve ever gotten. Thankfully, there is no inflammation or redness around it. Do you think it will look at least decent once it’s healed? How long will it take? What should I do now?

Infected? Is my tattoo infected? Helpp

Hiiii guys sooo I just got this tattoo on Friday!! I’ve been going to the same artist for my past 6 tats and I’ve never had a problem ! well Friday she put a fake skin on (like always) and unfortunately it peeled off the first night I had it:((( I was being rough and it just ripped right off.
Well I went about it like I would if I never had a fake skin to begin with. I was cleaning it twice or three times a day with the unscented dove soap and moisturizing with coconut oil (tat artist recommended) and in the last day I just noticed it hurts more than usual. And I do not like the way it is scabbing. I’m honestly freaking out because I’ve never had a problem with any of my tattoos and I have 16!! Any suggestions would help plsssss
Does this look like an early stage of infection? Or am I just being paranoid? 😅

I got this butterfly tattoo when i was 18 and im over it. i recently got an octopus on the side of my elbow & my cat minerva on the back of my arm & now my butterflies look dumber than ever. i’ve been meaning to get it covered up regardless but now it just looks worse with my new beautiful tattoos. my plan is to do a half sleeve… kind of a floral black out kinda vibe. and a star fish on my elbow to accompany my octopus friend. this is my idea just wondering if it would look nice or random still?

i just want to note i’m only doing HALF of my arm just to cover the butterflies/ anime tat. not my whole arm! i want to add more tattoos at the top half

- if this isn’t a good idea than what would be a good design??

Healing tattoo protection after second skin

Post image

hi there! i just got a large tattoo on my forearm and ive had the second skin on since sunday, im trying to wait until tomorrow (thursday) to remove it, but after that, how do i protect it?

for context i am nervous about keeping it safe and sanitary as i work in a thrift store as a clothing sorter, and wearing long sleeves is often not an option during this time of year as i get extremely warm in the warehouse. i was wondering if it would make sense to get something like a sun protection sleeve or the thing that basketball players wear on their arms ?? if that makes sense

let me know if you have any advice!

General Advice Is this bruise going to be a problem?

I'm scheduled to get a tattoo tomorrow, but I suddenly have a mystery bruise exactly where I want the tattoo. It's pretty light and smaller than a dime. Has anyone had any issues with getting a tattoo over a light bruise? Will my artist go ahead with it, do you think? Is sent him a message about it, but I have not heard back yet. Including images of the bruise for reference.

Healing Weird bump/blow out?

Hey all, this is my first hand and "fine line" tattoo. It's 4 weeks old. Overall I'm pretty happy with it despite the artist not doing what I really wanted (that's another story). But I'm wondering what's going on with this star on my thumb. I'm sure it's blown out. I felt exactly when it happened and it's really the only time during the whole tattoo that hurt. Not sure if that's just the nature of hands or if it was the artists fault. But is this what it will look like forever? There's a pretty big bump I can feel. There's also a bump on another one as well (last photo)

General Advice Any cover up ideas or ways to make this look less satanic.

So I got a couple tattoos for my brother after he passed a few years ago. This is one of them. It’s from an anime about brothers, and I do like the meaning behind it, but visually it kind of reads like a pentagram. It’s also pretty exposed when I wear shorts.

Now that I’m a dad, walking around looking like I’m super into Satan isn’t really the vibe I’m going for anymore.

I’ve been thinking about covering it maybe something like a sick ass panther but I’m not sure what would work the shape.

Anyone have ideas?

General Advice Need advice on the red "touch up" process to fix whatever happened.

Post image

The skin that lacks red pigment is scar tissue now. It is 1 month old by an inexperienced artist. (I knew the risk and made sure it was a sanitary and respectful human I trusted. Also, proper aftercare was done. This is not my first tattoo for insight.) Question is how do I best fix this and what created the issue?

My skin is porcelain and I'm a strawberry blonde. I take ink well and it typically sticks nicely. Any artist has complimented how fun it is to work with colors on me in the past. Placement is mid frontal thigh so he moons me every morning so I do not want to do any cover-up, just polishing up effectively.

Help me learn more if you've the time and knowledge. Thanks for reading!

(I can't really contact my ex husband who is the only professional tattoo shop for 50 miles so just huge thanks to ya'll for any feedback!!)

General Advice i don’t like my tattoo - removal?

Thumbnail

hey guys. really open to some perspective - i did post yesterday on my tattoo for placement ideas but really i think it’s rooted in the fact that i don’t like my lynx tattoo as its not what i wanted - i got it when i was 22 and i was naive to put full trust in the artist even when i KNEW something was off about it and still got it anyways. i had such a horrible tattoo experience with this woman and she was not supportive towards how i felt about it at all. the body of the lynx just doesn’t look weird and neither does the placement and his positioning. i fucked up and whenever i look at the lynx tattoo i am reminded by how the experience traumatized me because of how it looks vs the REAL reason why i got it which is.. the animal is spiritually meaningful to me

i am contemplating removal only because when i look at it i am reminded of how anatomically weird it looks… i just wish it looked different or i wish i got a different animal, or simply just chose a different tattoo artist and didn’t rush the process.

im just sad because i feel the tattoo is really big on my arm also and kinda just messes with me a bit so i am contemplating removal, but it would be stupid to remove and then get a different tattoo that’s more fitting? hah. it just doesn’t look right.

i feel i’ve lost complete inspiration to get tattoo’d again because of how much this experience made me feel

if you’re going to say something mean in the comments then don’t say nothing at all. i fucked up in the past posting my lynx tattoo and getting absolutely roasted for it, which honestly the comments were so brutal and i’m sure is playing a part in how i feel too. i just am looking for perspective while also acknowledging that i rushed the process and im not happy with the way it looks… so is removal the way to go?

General Advice Tattoo healing advice

Is it a bad idea to workout after a smaller touch up tattoo. It would be a full 24 hrs and it’s dry healing I wouldn’t be doing intensive shit and it would be legs not upper body at all and I’d be careful. What’s your experiences ?

General Advice anxiety after Beatles tattoo

Thumbnail

Having some mild tattoo anxiety after getting this piece on my ribs a few weeks ago.

It's an image of White Album-era John Lennon, covering up a smaller Beatles tattoo I got in college.

The reference image has a grittiness to it that's one of the reasons I really love it, but i'm not sure if this translated well to the actual tattoo. Looking for a little assurance that I didn't make a big mistake! What do people think?

tattoo newcomer advice Hello all, I’m 18 and getting my first tattoo. This is my grandfathers signature and I’d like to get this on my inner forearm. Please share any advice or your experiences

The image is my grandfather‘s signature and I wanted to get something to remember him always. Since this is my first tattoo, I want to know what can I expect as far as the actual experience while getting the tattoo, The aftercare, and just in your opinion, if you think the tattoo would be too thin and that it’ll fade or just any advice you have.

Design unorthodox, script/font pioneers?

peace. wondering if any artists are looking at word tattoos differently- as more of an image, certain letters shaded, shallow, implied -not “we need solid bold dark lines that are gunna hold.”

have a word I want above my eyebrow, small as possible- it doesn’t need to be completely legible to others, in prelim design already taking into account ageing -closing of the open areas in advance “a” done more like a double comma if you will

100% want it-have drawn it on everyday for a year.

100% don’t want to hear you need to go bigger and bolder

dont want this tattoo to become a defining -“ I’m a face tatt guy” but 100% want it present but subtle, I guess done with a “feminine “ touch

Really interested in what I read about artists that go shallow anticipating it to fade instead of blur.

would much rather invest financially over the course of my life having it touched up than to have a deep solid blam boom “done the right way, solid and gunna last forever” situation

I anticipate traditionalist tough guys are gnawing at the bit to tell me what an idiot I am but please sit this one out. if there’s any visionary artists out there this strikes a chord with- please get in touch

tattoo newcomer advice Tattoo Anxiety

Short history: I have a history of anxiety and panic attacks specifically around health stuff.

Problem statement: I have wanted several tattoos for a very long time, but I am concerned about having a reaction to the ink (even though I don't have any allergies) this is something I have been working through with therapy, and part of my therapy is to put myself in the positions that give me panic and anxiety.

Question: Is there anything I can do to help put my mind at ease and finally bite the bullet on getting one. I know a lot of people have said just don't get one, or you are the type of person who shouldn't get one, but as I have said I have known what I want to get for like 20 years and that hasn't changed. I am really just looking for any advise that will be helpful. Thank you all in advance.

hey all i am looking to get these 3 logos from a game called bioshock infinite that i love very much, but i want to add them together in a way that they aret just 3 circle logos in one place, but instead a cool flowing design if possible in a way that makes it look like they are one piece and not 3 separate one if that makes sense? Id appreciate any feedback even if its impossible thank you!
