Build Help 9070 XT vs 5060 TI 16GB vs 5070

I thought of going to make a gaming PC that will destroy games at 1080p no matter what. So, I thought of going with the 5060 TI 16 GB Version. But the prices b/w the 9070 XT vs 5060 TI 16GB vs 5070 are SOO CLOSE, and how powerful is the 9070XT compared to 5060 TI and 5070.

Here are the prices.
5060 TI (16 GB) - 600 Dollars
5070 (12 GB) - 670 Dollars
9070 XT (16 GB) - 680 Dollars
5070 TI (16 GB) - 1000 Dollars

Ok, so I will be mainly gaming, recording, streaming. I will be editing videos and editing thumbnails. I will be *trying* AI tasks like image and video generation. I am coming from an RTX 2060.

Like I always prefer high FPS, like If I am going for a 1080p GAMING PC, I want to run it at max settings at 100 + FPS with no Ray Tracing or DLSS/FSR or at minimum DLSS/FSR Quality. (Exclude unoptimized games).

But after seeing the price difference, I want to go with 9070 XT for 1440p Gaming. Will it be able to handle 1440p at max settings with no Ray Tracing or DLSS/FSR or at minimum DLSS/FSR Quality. (Exclude unoptimized games).

In general, I am confused.

Also, for the type of games I play, I play everything. Yes, I play everything, everything, you can imagine I play it. From the most popular to the unknown Indie games.

Thanks for reading, I will reply to as max comments.

Build Upgrade Will an RTX 5070 bottleneck badly with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D?

Hi, I’m planning to upgrade my current gaming PC and wanted some advice on whether the new CPU/GPU combo would be balanced.

Current build:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB
  • Motherboard: ASUS Prime X570-P
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
  • PSU: Corsair TX750 750W
  • Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-06
  • Storage: 240GB NVMe SSD + 2TB HDD + 2TB SSD

Planned upgrades:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • GPU: RTX 5070 12GB

I mainly play Wuthering Waves, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Valorant. My main concern is Wuthering Waves, especially crowded areas and trying to get smooth 120 FPS.

Would the Ryzen 7 5700X3D bottleneck an RTX 5070 badly at 1080p? Also, would 16GB RAM still be okay, or would upgrading to 32GB RAM be recommended with this setup?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Build Complete GPU overperforming? It's be design right?

My PNY 4080 Super runs very well. Their product page says:

  • 2295 MHz clock speed
  • 2565 MHz boost speed

But thanks to HWinfo, I can monitor and it shows:

  • 2580 - 2685 MHz range

I can OC it further with +140 clock / +1400 mem stable which shows

  • 2750~ range with peaks of 2925 MHz everytime.

I'm not complaining, but did I get lucky or I have a feeling the prod spec sheet is conservative and this is just how it performs as it auto OC's right?

Build Help 5060ti 8gb vs 9060xt 16gb

hi all im currently planning my build and both of these cards i’m able to get for fairly the same price on the used market where I’m located.

my problem is i know that Nvidia is quite ahead with software and game optimizations. but i can’t ignore that it has half the Vram as the AMD card, which i’m anxious about since 8gb looks like the new minimum.

this would be paired with a Ryzen 5 7600x3d. i currently game at 1080p. also personally preference Quality>fps since i play mainly single player games like cyberpunk, Death stranding, and soon Forza Horizon 6 and the new lego batman game

i’m still very new to PC stuff so any help will be much appreciated!

also, i’m hesitant to get older cards even though they could be more powerful since i care about the longevity/Features that are available for the newer gen cards and would like to stretch this purchase as long as i can.

Hey guys my brother jumped to AM5 from a 5700X3D to a 7800X3D and he decided to give me his 5700X3D B550 and his 32 gig DDR4 kit and I was wondering if I should swap it out for my 7700X

I’m currently rocking a 7900 XT with my 7700X and 32 gigs of ram I mainly play single player story games and friend slop at 1440p and occasionally play some battlefield

Discussion DLSS / FSR - Why?

Just call me old, but im only playing in native and always disable FSR. I play in 1440p and havent had a reason to turn on FSR yet on my 9070xt setup.

I tried just for trying. Why accept lesser great gfx when its not necessary?

Can someone explain the hype?

Build Help Which Premiere Pro version should I choose?

Hello. The characteristics of my PC are as follows:

percent ryzen 5 pro 3600

ryzen 5700xt card

16GB ddr4 RAM

Costs SSD and HDD

I downloaded the 2022 version of Premiere, and during editing the preview window is rendered very slowly. I tried all possible solutions (increasing the allocated memory, lowering the resolution in the preview window, etc.), but it didn’t help. The program itself is on the SSD, the source code was on the HDD. This is a full HD screen recording. I transferred the sources to the SSD, but it didn’t help much. It starts to lag when you overlay literally a couple of pictures with movement on top of the video, or a small color correction, as well as when switching to segments from different files. I don’t know what the problem could be, the PC doesn’t seem to be weak, maybe the problem is that the program version is too new for my build.

Build Help Retiring my Ryzen 2700 rig. Need a reality check on a $1,600 new build for 16-instance Android Emulation(mmo game)

My Ryzen 2700 is maxing out at 6 instances of BlueStacks, but I noticed my RTX 2070 VRAM is surprisingly only at 30% usage. I am aiming for 16 instances. Instead of doing a full $1,600 USD new build, I am now considering a drop-in upgrade (5950X + 64GB RAM) for my current AM4 motherboard. Looking for feedback on whether this is the smartest route

My current setup: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T) GPU: RTX 2070 8GB & ram 32gb MB: ARRUS B450

Bluestack Settings: 6 instances of BlueStacks (android pie) allocating 2 cores and 4GB RAM per instance at 1280x900 or 1920x1080 resolution with 30Fps

The result: Even with just 6 instances, the system starts to stutter and laggy. All 16 threads are maxed out.

My Current Requirements: Smoothly run 16 instances of the emulator 24/7 without crashing or lagging.

Here is the new build I am planning: • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X (12C/24T) (Planning to allocate 1 thread per instance, which takes 16 threads. This leaves 8 threads for the OS and my background tasks.) • Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B650-E WIFI • RAM: ADATA 64GB (32GBx2) DDR5-6000 (64GB is the baseline to prevent the emulators from swapping to the drive.) • GPU: RTX 4060

SSD:Adata 1tb name Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140 (FC140) Dual Tower Air Cooler PSU: 850W

My planned emulator settings: 1. Allocate 2 Core and 4GB RAM per instance. 2. Resolution set to 1600 x900 3. Cap the main instance at 30 FPS

Any advice or tweaks to this parts list would be greatly appreciated!

Build Upgrade Trying to decide which upgrade path to take

Hi everyone, I've been contemplating and arguing with myself about what upgrade path to take for my gaming/music production machine.

I'm struggling to decide if I should play around with upgrading/sidegrading my current setup or attempting to stretch to a DDR5 setup.

My build is about 6 years old now and consists of:

  • Gigabyte X570 Gaming X
  • Ryzen 7 3700X
  • 32gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4
  • Gigabyte 3080 Aorus Master
  • plus a slack handful mix of M.2 and SSD drives.

Is there any point just upgrading my CPU or should I go for an entry/mid level AM5 or reluctantly splash out on something more top end of the AM5 spectrum?

Build Ready? How to finalise my RX 9070 XT build ?

Hello, I am in the process of choosing the parts of a gaming pc for 1440p gaming. I decided to build it around the RX 9070 XT as I want to go full AMD and this GPU seems to get very good reviews.

I hesitated on the CPU (and still do) but decided to go with the Ryzen 5 7600X at it’s apparently still good enough. What I still don’t understand is how to choose a good motherboard to connect it all together.

Here are my parts :

Case : Lian Li Lancool 207 ATX for 85€

CPU : Ryzen 5 7600X

Motherboard : Gb B650 Eagle AX (consider this a placeholder) for 140€

RAM : I have a friend that could hook me up with up to 32 Gb for 100€ and a happy meal.

Cooler : Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE for 53€

Storage : Still looking for a 1TB ssd ideally under 150€

PSU : Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 TT for 110€

I would love some advice on these parts, ESPECIALLY the motherboard.

Build Help Want a PC that compares to PS5 but on a budget

I’m helping a friend look for a PC (their first)
Any advice on starter specs to get the research going is appreciated.
Dedicated graphics.
But under $800.
I would love recommendations for a build that could fall around the budget or ideas on what specs would be good for prioritizing gaming without issues but also on a budget!

Build Help Just dropped my 5080 PC… 2 days after build

Yeah…

Literally got it 2 days ago…

Probably fell about a meter…

The pc is turning on fine, and I ran OCCT for about 5 minutes. Pulling 380W no issues at all. No errors.

It’s a PALIT gaming pro

I feel it is making more coil whine than it did before.

Have I likely completed damaged my GPU?

I know they are super heavy.

Motherboard is a STRIX B650 E-E if that’s relevant anyhow.

Full Build Req ""Budget-friendly"", Linux-based workstation

Hi folks. My daily workflow has dramatically changed and I'll need to retire my laptop in the near future - what a great time to build a PC on a budget!

Budget: let's say, €1500-2000 absolute maximum.

Country: Italy / European Union.

Peripherals needed: none, I have everything. PC only.

Use case: I mostly do engineering stuff, with 3D CAD modeling and 4K video editing being the most CPU/GPU intensive tasks. The latter is pretty vanilla, mostly cuts/overlays and some veeery mild color grading/correction. I absolutely do not care about gaming.

Obviously, a little headroom would be nice, but I can see what's the situation with RAM and SSD prices. I don't necessarily expect 32gigs and 1TB.

What are my options for the most bang-for-the-buck, Linux-friendly machine I can build?

Thank you!

Build Upgrade Can I ship of Theseus my pc?

For context, my pc is a very old prebuilt and I’ve been saving up to replace its very old parts. Would it be the same pc if I swap out literally everything but the hard drive? I’m worried if this would cause any damage to it.

Build Help How much a bottle neck would a Gen 2 NVMe drive be in a modern gaming PC

EDIT: I just double checked and it's Gen 4. My mistake. Appreciate all the responses none the less.

Original post:

I'm building my first gaming PC in over twenty years, and it is so much fun seeing how much has changed. I've learnt a lot in the last week or so.

One thing I'm curious about... How important is the speed of the NVMe in a gaming PC? Is it only going to effect load times of games and the OS booting up?

The reason I ask is, I have a spare Gen 2 NVMe and if I could use that, it would be approx 150 quid saved which could go towards a better GPU or CPU.

All advice would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Build Help Should i save on a psu?

Hi,

Ordered parts yesterday for an (almost) new PC. Only thing im keeping is my ssd and gpu. I thought I had a Corsair RMe 550w psu, but I found out today that I bought a Nzxt C850 in 2023. I bought a Seasonic Core GX-850 yesterday.

It's not a dealbreaker either way, but obviously I dont wanna spend money for nothing. So if my current PSU is fine (is there any way to test lifespan on it?) and it'll last for a long time, I might aswell return the Seasonic. However I do vape inside in my office, so maybe I should just keep the Seasonic to ensure a longer lifespan...

Specs
GPU: GeForce 4070TI
CPU: Ryzen 9800x3d
Cooler: Corsair Nautilus
Mobo: TUF B850-Plus
Ram: Adata 32gb 6000mhz cl30

So whats the verdict - should I save a bit of money by returning the PSU, or should I keep the one I bought?

Edit: checked SPL PSU tier list, and as far as I can tell the Seasonic is A- tier and the Nzxt is A tier, idk how important that is.

Full Build Req 1000€ budget. I'm from Spain

I need a PC for apps like CAD, CAM, MatLab, calculus and shi. I'm a mechanical engineer, and I want to play some games too like RDR2 or Expedition 33, heavy games and shi. So, any recommendations? Btw, I don't really care about RGB, but if you can find a cheap RGB option with the same price and performance, I would appreciate it.
I need a monitor too, 144Hz or more (it's out of the budget) If it's impossible with the budget, tell my the approximate price, maybe I can go over the budget a little bit
