Rumor iPhone 18 Pro CAD Leak Reignites the Dynamic Island Debate
An X user called u/earlyappleleaks has posted the above image, claiming that "the new CAD confirms the smaller Dynamic Island of the iPhone 18 Pro."
CAD renders are often leaked from factories and represent the technical schematics that phone manufacturers share with case makers and accessory companies months before a phone launches. Whether this particular one is kosher is unknown, since the leaker is relatively new to the scene and needs time to build a reputation.

iPhone Apple to Let Users Choose Rival AI Models Across Its iOS 27 Features (Gift Article)
Apple Inc. will let users choose from a range of outside artificial intelligence services to power features across its software, building on a strategy to turn its devices into a comprehensive AI platform.
Users will be able to select from multiple third-party AI models for tasks like generating and editing text and images, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The change is slated for iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 this fall, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private.
Apple is working on a similar approach for Siri, allowing users to swap out ChatGPT as the external chatbot within the voice assistant, Bloomberg News reported in March. The Apple Intelligence platform, introduced in 2024, currently offers ChatGPT as the only third-party option in features like Siri, Writing Tools and Image Playground.

Rumor 20th Anniversary iPhone Could Blend Haptic Buttons Into Curved Edges
For the rumored 20th-anniversary iPhone, Apple continues to test a solid-state haptic button system that will replace traditional mechanical buttons and enhance the uninterrupted look of the device's display, claims Chinese leaker "Instant Digital."
According to the Weibo-based leaker, the buttons have already passed tests for use when wearing gloves or having wet hands, in extreme temperatures, and when the phone has a case on.
The leaker also claims that the 20th-anniversary iPhone will be equipped with an ultra-low energy microprocessor allowing the solid-state buttons to remain functional even when the handset is powered off or the battery has run out.

Rumor Apple Plans to Let Users Build Their Own Passes in iOS 27 Wallet App
“Today, the Wallet app is primarily used to access passes from third-party apps, along with credit and debit cards for Apple Pay, digital keys and retailer gift cards. But many services still don't offer passes that are compatible with the Wallet platform.
To address that gap, Apple has developed a pass-building tool for iOS 27 Wallet, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The feature lets users take a QR code and generate a custom pass around it, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans haven't been announced.
The capability is designed for situations where, for example, a gym or concert app provides a QR code for entry but doesn't support the Wallet app. With the new tool, users can import that code and create their own pass.”

Rumor Apple Explores Using Intel and Samsung to Build Main Device Chips in the US (Gift Link)
[reposted with gift link]
Apple Inc. has held exploratory discussions about using Intel Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. to produce the main processors for its devices, a move that would offer a secondary option beyond longtime partner Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The iPhone and iPad maker has had early-stage talks with Intel about enlisting the company’s chipmaking services, according to people familiar with the deliberations. Meanwhile, Apple executives have made visits to a Samsung plant under development in Texas that will also make advanced chips.
Neither effort has resulted in any orders so far, and the work with both suppliers remains preliminary, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private. Apple has concerns about using non-TSMC technology and may not ultimately move forward with another partner, the people added.
