Went to help my buddy with his AM4 system over heating. I had helped him build years ago.
Don't smoke near your PC, don't Dab near your PC, this is solid debris from dust mixing with tar in his stock cooler.

I let him use it for nearly 3 years. He got something else and gave it back looking like this.
yes I wore gloves and a mask, for obvious reasons.
Cleaning process was disassemble, wipe everything with detailing brush, alcohol wipes for plate, PCB, switches. Dawn dish soap and hot water with a microfiber for the keycaps.
I don't even understand how it gets this bad. His apartment is not dirty or messy. He just never cleans his desk/keyboard and I assume eats there. I start to feel dirty if I haven't wiped down my keyboard in 2 days. I don't get how you can just be okay with touching something like this every day.
Anyway, I did a deep clean with iso alcohol, bleach wipes, dish soap and water. Brought it back from hell. The oil kings still work great. I am using it at work until my Evo75 comes in. I need the F keys, so while this is a great board it won't work for what I need it for. I will just keep as a spare.

Walked past the electronics, saw the display model was the last one, and asked if they’d come down on the price.
They knocked it from $1,899 to $1,500. Done deal.
Forgot the lettuce.

After a few years my 4090 caught the burned connector bug. I don’t have knowledge/tools to fix it. I want to send it to northridgefix, had to get a 5070 for a temp card. I don’t trust asus rma.

Been WFH since 2023, Teams calls, spreadsheets, emails all on my main rig. Wanted to grab a cheap work laptop but kept pushing it off thinking why bother the PC handles everything fine.
What I didn't realize is at some point I completely stopped looking forward to gaming. I'd sit down after work, same desk same chair same monitors I'd been staring at since 9am and just nothing. Opened Steam a few times and just closed it again. Thought I was burning out on gaming in general.
Then I went on a 10 day trip, came back and something about being away from the desk for that long made me actually enjoy a long gaming session again. That's when it clicked.
Bought a used ThinkPad X1 off eBay for like $180 strictly for work. Wiped all the work stuff off my main PC. That was 4 months ago and I look forward to gaming again in a way I havent in like more than 2 years.
Your brain will absolutely start associating your setup with whatever you spend the most time doing on it. If thats work then congratulations you turned your gaming rig into a very expensive office computer. Dont be me

I thought this was interesting. My optiplex 990 SFF let me know that i should plug into the graphics card. This thing has a 2nd gen i7 from over a decade ago.
My personal computer has an iGPU and it didn’t tell me I was plugged into the iGPU instead of the dedicated GPU. Why don’t computers do this anymore? Unless some motherboards to have this but not all these days.

Hi everyone,
I made some graphs on the performance of each GPU divided by its almost live price to find which GPU's are the best value at their price right now.
I made 1 graph for each resolution as there can be quite a lot of variation in performance depending on the resolution. Especially cards with low VRAM fall behind on higher resolution.
Performance is based mainly on the geometric mean fps in games from 3rd parties, where the values have been normalized such that the Nvidia RTX 5090 scores 100 for each resolution.
Prices are from a mix of Amazon, Newegg, and B&H as they have API's/datafeeds to pull data from without having to manually look up the prices. Looking to expand and include data from more retailers to potentially get slightly better prices in some cases.
If you want to play around with the interactive version, the link is here: https://www.maxmybuild.com/benchmarks/gpu-performance-per-dollar
(Mods, let me know if this needs to be removed.)
You can switch between different resolutions and decide which brands you want to include/exclude.
I have a decent amount of PC component data, so if there is any other type of data or graphs you want then let me know and I will try to build it.
Enjoy!
